Who
should lead Dallas into the future?
The
November 7th general election is behind us. Voters,
candidates and pundits are all still reacting to outcomes
in county, state and national races...
...so, now, our political attention turns to City of Dallas elections next May.
The jockeying for mayor and various council seats has been under way for months,
but you can be sure that city political maneuvering will now intensify.
The official and unofficial announcements of who's running and who's not running
(and for what) are difficult to sort through.
- Politicians
who have been out-of-the-loop are scurrying to forge
alliances with segments of the population — and areas
of the city — that have long been ignored.
- Traditional
Dallas political machines who are used to anointing
and appointing the next mayor suddenly find themselves without
footing in the New Dallas.
- Mavericks touting
their value as "outsiders" are vying for office but,
in spite of novelty value, don't have a clue of what it actually
takes to work with other elected officials or manage an operation
as large as Dallas.
Citizens are
fed up with puppet mayors or slash-and-burn mayors who don't
know how to lead our city into the future.
Voters
across Dallas are looking for someone who actually
knows how to bring citizens, community leaders, city staff,
the business community, and all segments of our population
together to get results and raise the bar for us all.
Wow.
Who could possibly have the ability, experience and
passion to accomplish all that?
